BC Merkert Lab_News.jpgBoston College: Merkert Chemistry Laboratory

G. Greene recently completed renovations to an existing laboratory at Boston College’s Merkert Chemistry Center. The project consisted of a complete upgrade to the lab space and installation of new lab casework, epoxy counter tops, poured epoxy flooring and lighting. HVAC, plumbing and medical gases were also upgraded as part of the project, including a new exhaust fan and heat exchangers.  One new fume hood was provided as well as six that were refurbished offsite to better suit the current needs of the university.  The building had to remain fully operational throughout the construction process. Coordination with the Boston College faculty and staff was essential in order to schedule appropriate shut downs and noise disturbances.

G. Greene is to be commended for the extra effort that was necessary to complete the detailed work in such a confined and restricted environment. Their goal throughout the project was to keep the environment safe for patients and staff.
