In August, Bob and Rene’ Greene were proud sponsors of the Joe Cronin Memorial Fishing Tournament benefiting the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The 15th Annual tournament is in honor of the late Joe Cronin who was an active supporter of the Jimmy Fund since 1948. Mr. Cronin played for the Red Sox and later became general manager of the team. In 1959, he became the first former player to be elected President of the American League.

Fishing took place over the waters of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. A cocktail party, cookout and silent auction followed the tournament and numerous awards were handed out in several categories including heaviest bluefish and bass, most unusual catch and a sportsmanship award. Shelby Greene, 10 years old placed first in the juniors division for reeling in a bluefish weighing in at 10 lbs. 6 oz. Morgan Krauss placed second in this division for reeling in a 9 lbs. 8 oz. bluefish.

G. Greene is to be commended for the extra effort that was necessary to complete the detailed work in such a confined and restricted environment. Their goal throughout the project was to keep the environment safe for patients and staff.
