New Interventional Radiology Suite at Mass. General Hospital

By G. Greene Construction on April 19, 2018

G. Greene recently installed a new state-of-the-art Siemens Artis Zee Multi-Purpose C-Arm X-Ray/Angio System in the Interventional Radiology Room at Mass General Hospital. This scanner provides advanced imaging software with detailed results for physicians to review. This project consisted of a room replacement to an existing older Interventional Radiology Room. It was a very difficult project, due to the size and location of the room which was above an Emergency Department and below a PACU.

This new radiology suite is unique in that is the first Interventional Radiology suite that Mass General Hospital  has installed with full stainless-steel panels. These panels will provide longer durability and enhance the infection control through environmental design. This new machine also allows physicians to see the internal structure and function of a patient, such as the pumping action of the heart or the motions of swallowing.

Interventional Radiology is continually innovating and evolving. The evolution is driven primarily by technology advancements in with medical imaging as well as the development of new and smaller and smaller medical devices used to treat patients.

This is one of many successful projects we have completed with Ahin Handa, Senior Architect of MGH and Payette Associates. G. Greene’s team members included Andrea Seward, Senior Project Manager and Dan Deverix, Project Superintendent. We are so proud to have had the opportunity, once again, to work with this team on such an exciting and innovative project.
