The project began with clearing and grubbing an existing wooded lot adjacent to the substation, followed by the excavation and relocation of approximately 3,500 cubic yards of material to support a 16,000-square-foot substation yard expansion.

With outage windows tight, Eversource called for an accelerated schedule, and the team achieved every milestone on time.

Solutions

Our crew engineered and built a 270-foot-long, 20-foot-high precast retaining wall and installed new security fencing around the expanded yard. We completed 19 pad and pier bus support foundations and four transmission foundations, each drilled 38 feet deep.

We also ran over 500 linear feet of control conduit and duct bank, plus 2,600 linear feet of grounding, giving the new equipment everything it needs to run reliably.

Results

Our team demolished old equipment foundations, restored the site, and returned the conservation area to its original condition. Close coordination with Eversource turned the accelerated timeline into an on-time win.

Today, the substation is ready to accept new transmission line infrastructure, giving Eversource more reliability and room to grow in the future.
