New England Baptist Hospital
Description
When New England Baptist Hospital needed to replace their aging and inaccessible oxygen tank farm they wanted one entity to handle the entire process. From conceptual design through construction, G. Greene handled it all: vetting and hiring the design team, exploratory pre-construction work, developing the design in tandem with AirGas, permitting, site work, and seamless tie on the new oxygen tank farm.
Approach
- Kept existing oxygen tank farm active throughout all construction activities, as oxygen is essential to patient care
- Existing O2 tank farm was located on the side of a steep incline. G Greeneās civil division and construction worked shoulder to shoulder to efficiently and safely complete the work
- Executed precise, off-hours crane pick of new O2 tank farm and completed same day tie-in, to create seamless transition for the hospital
Results
- Developed design with architects; geotechnical, structural, and mechanical engineers; AirGas, and owner
- Expedited permitting during the COVID 19 shutdown
- Completed underground utilities & concrete pad installation
- Executed final oxygen purity testing and O2 Tank Farm go live process
