The Broad Institute
Description
The Liu Group at the Broad Institute strives to creatively integrate chemistry and evolution to enable new therapeutics. They work in DNA-templated synthesis; protein evolution and delivery; and genome editing. In order to perform this hyper-precise and important work, the Broad Institute hired G. Greene to build them a state-of-the-art laboratory.
Approach
- Communicated daily with the Broad Institute’s facilities team to coordinate shut-downs and deliveries in order to minimize disruption to the occupants in the building
- Coordinated and installed intricate and extensive plumbing scope including oxygen, nitrogen, reverse osmosis deionized water lines, helium manifold, laboratory vacuum, laboratory waste, and laboratory venting
Results
- Renovated two new warm rooms, modified bench space and lab sinks as well as the install of a new emergency shower
- Installed vented chemical storage cabinets in the existing tissue culture room
- Project scope included 4,800 square feet of laboratory space and 2,800 square feet of office space
