Matthews Hall Fire Alarm Upgrade

Harvard’s Matthews Hall is located in the middle of Harvard Yard, at the heart of the campus. Built in 1872, the dormitory required special care given it’s age and preservation requirements. The project was finished nearly three weeks early and well under budget.

Approach

• Design schedule to accommodate Harvard’s academic schedule
• Work with subcontractors to identify inefficiencies; finished job 3 weeks early

Results

• Complete enabling mechanical work in the basement prior to academic year end
• Complete 5th floor fire alarm, break for Commencement
• Complete floors 1 through 4 fire alarm
• All systems complete prior to beginning of academic year
