Medical Office Fit-Out

50 Staniford Street, Cambridge, MA

BOSTON, MA – G. Greene Construction recently completed a fit-out for Mass. General Hospital to house a Primary Care Medical Practice.  This 20,000 SF space located on the 9th floor of 50 Staniford Street, included an elevator lobby entrance modification, waiting area, registration, exam rooms, offices and consulting rooms.  Included in the design were lighted glass murals of the Zakim Bridge and the Paul Revere Landmark, both which can be seen from their spectacular views of the city.

This building typically sees 2,000 to 3,000 visitors per day for various medical procedures.  Due to the on-going building elevator modernization, we only used one elevator, leaving the other three operational. Coordination with the building manager was crucial to coordinate deliveries, trash removal and shut-downs. As always strict ICRA Standards were in place and followed.

This project had its logistical challenges.  Another contractor who is adding 60K SF of retail space, 360 degrees around the building, eliminated access to the outdoor plaza for dumpsters and material deliveries.  Alternative project delivery methods were used including working almost every Saturday from March to September.  This allowed us to gain curbside access for the delivery of 1800 sheets of sheetrock, 10,000 metal studs, welded metal frames, casework, and flooring.

The G. Greene Project Team of Andrea Seward – Senior Project Manager, Tom Maturano – Assistant Project Manager, and Ryan Doherty – Project Superintendent along with Patricia Gordon – Senior Project Manager and Frank Deasy – Construction Manager (both of MGH) and Building Manager – Mark Braudis (CBRE) did an outstanding job collaborating and navigating through these logistical challenges. This project remained on-track, meeting an aggressive schedule.
